IRIS - Consortium of Florentine area art history and humanities libraries

The IRIS Consortium member institutes have joined together with the aim of creating a collective bibliographic catalog easily consulted on the Web. The catalog gathers together all the bibliographic information on the documentary resources held by the partner libraries by means of their individual organization. Specifically the catalog, which contains more than 375,000 titles, includes monographs, journals, rare and early books (including pre-1500 works), auction catalogs, academic dissertations, music scores, offprints, collection-level guides to photographic archives, and non-print media (microfiche, microfilms, CD-ROMs, videos, and sound recordings. The auction catalogs, numbering over 25,000, are mainly focused on the sales of art objects, while including notable auctions of arms and armour, books and manuscripts, coins and medals, music scores and musical instruments and the decorative arts.
Further enriching the catalog is the presence of a significant number of in-analytics (records for individual articles from a number of specialized journals and conference proceedings).
The catalog is accessibile by way of the IRIS OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) and, since 2015, its participation in the Art Discovery Group Catalogue, a shared database of libraries focused on the literature of art history within WorldCat.
